240 TueZday: The 1/18 Datsun 240Z, by Maisto

Another day, another gem by Maisto. This one has been out for a few years and has gone through a few colorways. Orange, pale yellow, and now blue, all of which are appropriate colors for this car. This is the Datsun 240Z in 1/18 scale.

It’s not every day I buy cars of this vintage in 1/18, but it’s a must have for Nissan fans and Z fans like me. The 240Z is a timeless beauty, an instant classic, and is always a sight to see in person. This particular colorway evokes the “Devil Z” from Wangan Midnight. I’ve already set aside a chunk of money for the upcoming AUTOart model of that, which I hear should be available end of the month, and it will make a perfect pair with this one. To say that I'm excited to see them next to one another is an understatement. There's a lot to look forward to in the next few weeks.

Flashy sports cars are likely the best sellers among Maisto products, but this model is proof that Maisto can do classic cars just as well as they do modern supercars. The stance and wheels are perfect and faithfully represent that of a stock 240Z. I love the contrasting orange steering wheel and shifter. Aside from some sloppy black paintwork on the chrome bumpers, this Z looks exceptional. Guess it's time to hunt down some of the other colors.
