Just one for today, but it's a good one. Something you don't see every day. The Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC AMG. I mean, who makes obscure models like these. a luxury boat-turned bad boy cruiser, anyways?
Well, Matchbox does, or at least it did. This was when their lineup consisted of not only tons of licensed vehicles, but unique ones at that. I'm talking about the kinds of cars that you simply can't find in 1/64 anymore. That's what makes Matchbox so awesome. They recognize all types of cars and try to replicate them as accurately as possible. If you have the means to, get out there and acquire some of their older models. They're totally worth it and you won't ever look at today's products the same way again.
The 560 SEC AMG was from back in the day, before AMG was a household name, before they were even part of the Mercedes-Benz brand. They were just a tuning company that liked to modify Benzes, not unlike what Brabus and Lorinser are to M-B today. Take the big luxury coupe, drop in a bigger engine, tweak the suspension to handle the extra power, and add a ridiculous widebody kit to top it off. The formula to creating a classic.
Limited to only a few dozen models in the world, these are extremely rare, to say the least. I might never see one in my life, but at least I've got one I can stare at all day.
This gloss white is the only colorway that the 560 SEC is available in, in the World Class series. The car itself really goes hand-in-hand with the look of the Premiere and World Class cars. Ridiculous-ness on top of ridiculous-ness. The super-staggered wheels make this car even crazier than it already is. Some may hate the look, but I personally love it. The details are all there, albeit a little rough by modern standards. It's got a metal base. It also has a working suspension. It even has an incorrectly labeled license plate. And it's got the chrome windows that everybody loves, right?
Definitely my favorite World Class release of them all. If you had to choose just one, pick this one and don't look back.
